Partners: L.L.Bean Media/Relations Partners, Red Sox, Brunswick Manufacturing The graphic adorned the side of custom bean boots made for the team and staff of the Red Sox to celebrate their 2013 World Series win. Our team was tasked two weeks before the World Series to design a boot emblem for the Red Sox in the event they won. The design was finished within 48 hours, approved, and on to our Brunswick, ME manufacturing to be stitched onto the custom boots. There were two challenges with this project. I had a very tight deadline and the graphic was not being licensed. Since it was not licensed we could not use anything Red Sox or MLB related. Then, add in only a couple of days to get something out that the Red Sox will have on their feet, and the pressure is on! We met as a team to discuss the project and overall direction. After splitting up and working on sketches, a direction was chosen by our marketing group and I finalized the graphic for production. They were ready whether the Sox won or not. Luckily they did and the boots were released out to the players. The graphic found itself on our Bootmobile in the Boston parade and the boots ended up on Conan thanks to Gomes. Images via L.L.Bean |
