The redesign of a twisted thriller novel

Employer: Freelance / Caitlin Sara

The author was never very happy with the original cover, so I was asked to redesign it to better represent the content of the book and make it look like it belonged in modern, twisted thriller genre. The main ask was for something more interesting and not so simple. I found a perfect existing photo with someone on a large chess board and added some blood to make it fit the storyline. The bold sans-serif and striking image help Rooked sit in with the modern thriller genre but is still unique to the novel itself.

I also supplied images to use for promoting the redesign on social media. 

Synopsis:
